Wavelet: Contraction Timer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The short version. Wavelet saves your contractions only on your iPhone. There is no account, no server, no iCloud sync and no access to the Health app. The app has no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party code.

Nothing you enter is sent to us or to anyone else. Your log leaves the phone only when you share it yourself. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

1. Who we are

Wavelet: Contraction Timer ("Wavelet", "the app") is made by BORING APPS SRL, a company based in Romania ("we", "us"). Under the GDPR we would be the "controller" of any personal data the app collected. As this policy explains, it collects none.

Contact: hello@boring-apps.dev.

This policy covers the Wavelet app for iPhone, its widgets and its Live Activity.

2. What stays on your iPhone

The app saves these things only on your iPhone:

Your sessionsThe start and end time of each contraction, the rule you chose, and any notes. Saved as a file inside the app.
A small summary for the Lock ScreenThe current contraction's start time, the last gap and recent start times, shared with Wavelet's own widgets and Live Activity on the same iPhone.
SettingsYour rule, night mode, the reminder time, whether you bought the pack, and a counter so the app asks for a rating rarely.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Wavelet doesn't sync to iCloud and doesn't read or write the Health app.

Device backups

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, iOS can include Wavelet's data in that backup, like other app data, so a restored iPhone keeps your log. That backup is made by iOS, on your instruction, under your Apple Account. We can't read it.

3. When you share your log

You can share a session as text (free) or as a PDF (with the Labor & Newborn Pack). The app prepares the text or the PDF on your iPhone and hands it to the iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes, for example a message to your midwife. We never receive a copy. Once you send it, the app or person you sent it to handles it under their own terms.

If you tap Contact Support, your own Mail app opens with our address and a subject line that holds only the app's name and version. You decide what to write and whether to send it.

4. Notifications

Wavelet uses local notifications only: a "Still timing?" reminder if a contraction has been running for longer than the time you set, and, if you turn it on, a notice when your rule's pattern is met. The app schedules them on your iPhone. They are not sent through any server, and there are no push notifications. iOS asks for your permission the first time you start a contraction, never at launch. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Purchases

The timer, the log and sharing as text are free. The Labor & Newborn Pack is a one-time in-app purchase that adds PDF export.

Purchases go entirely through Apple's App Store. The app asks Apple for the price, Apple runs the payment, and Apple tells the app on your iPhone that you own the pack. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details, and the app sends us nothing about purchases. Apple gives us only totals, such as how many packs were sold in each country. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Crash reports from Apple

If you chose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymous crash reports, which help us fix bugs. They don't identify you and don't contain your log. You can turn this off in the same place.

6. What the app never does

  • No account. There is nothing to sign up for or log in to.
  • No servers of ours. The app has no network code of its own. Its only connection is to Apple's App Store, for the price and the purchase.
  • No analytics and no third-party code of any kind: no analytics tools, no crash-reporting services, no ad SDKs, no attribution tools.
  • No ads of any kind.
  • No tracking. The app doesn't use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and never asks for permission to track.
  • No iCloud sync and no Health app access.
  • No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

7. Health data and the law

Contraction times are information about your health. Under the GDPR (Article 9), health data gets extra protection. Wavelet keeps it entirely on your iPhone, under your control. Because the app sends nothing to us or to any third party, we don't process your health data, don't hold it on any server and can't see it.

This matches the App Privacy details on the App Store: "Data Not Collected".

8. How long data is kept

  • On your iPhone: until you delete it, or delete the app.
  • With us: nothing, because the app sends us nothing. If you email us, we keep the conversation only as long as we need it to help you.

9. What you can do

  • Delete a contraction: swipe it in the list and tap Delete.
  • Delete everything: delete the app. All sessions and settings go with it. If you reinstall, the pack can be restored from your Apple Account.
  • Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Ask us anything, or use your rights: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. We hold no data from the app, but write to hello@boring-apps.dev and we'll reply within one month.
  • Complain to a regulator: you can contact your data protection authority. In Romania that's the ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro). In the UK it's the ICO (ico.org.uk). We'd like the chance to help first.

10. Security

Your log is protected by your iPhone's own security, including its passcode and data protection. The app's only connection is to Apple's App Store, over an encrypted connection.

11. Not medical advice

This app is a timer and log. It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. Contractions can be unpredictable: follow your doctor or midwife, and call them or your emergency number if you are worried.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We won't start collecting data, add analytics, add ads, add iCloud sync or add third-party code without first updating this policy and the App Store privacy details.
